Dale wanted to see his daughter get married, but he had a pain that wouldn’t go away. He went to the emergency room. By the end of the night, he had hemorrhaged two units of blood. It turned out he had a tumor in his kidney. He was prescribed pain medication and sent home, but Dale didn’t have insurance and couldn’t afford the required surgery.

Dale came to Shepherd’s Hope and a volunteer urologist took his case. By the time Dale was prepped for surgery, his tumor had grown and was cancerous. The volunteer urologist removed the tumor just one month after Dale’s visit to Shepherd’s Hope. Amazingly, the surgery didn’t cost Dale anything. The urologist donated his time and talents.

Dale is now cancer free and he credits the Shepherd’s Hope volunteer urologist with saving his life. Most importantly, Dale was able to walk his oldest daughter down the aisle and watch her get married. It’s a dream he may not have been able to realize if it weren’t for Shepherd’s Hope.
