Shepherd's Hope celebrated its 10th Anniversary on Valentine’s Day February 14, 2007 with a heartfelt program that featured the surprise announcement of the Dr. William S. Barnes Endowment Fund benefiting Shepherd's Hope. As the Founder of Shepherd's Hope, Dr. Barnes was honored for his unwavering faith, love and visionary leadership in responding to the call to serve the uninsured. The Dr. William S. Barnes Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment to create the legacy that will continue to provide financial resources to provide hope and healing to thousands of low-income, uninsured members of our community for years to come. Please contact Shepherd's Hope at 407.876.6699 x 5 or development@shepherdshope.org to be a supporting donor or for more information on giving to Shepherd's Hope.
Shepherd's Hope Board member Emeritus Andrea Batchelor welcomed everyone to the 10th Anniversary event and Dr. Wayne Wiatt, the District Superintendent of the East Central Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, provided the invocation for the program. Julie Ohrberg performed “Because of One,” a special song written by Ben Adams and Jim Gentry based upon Shepherd's Hope volunteers and supporters sentiments of what Shepherd's Hope means to them. Dr. Barnes led Shepherd's Hope’s faith community in a blessing of the new Shepherd's Hope administrative Central Office.
Dr. Barnes recognized the many community partners, supporters and friends who together create Shepherd's Hope as a place the uninsured men, women and children of Central Florida can come and receive medical visits with dignity and respect.
Shepherd's Hope gratefully thanks those who give so generously:
The 1500+ volunteer doctors, nurses, and general volunteers who dedicate their time;
The 20 Faith Communities who offer their congregations a place to serve using their gifts and talents;
The many hospitals and community partners who provide numerous medical services; and
The passionate donors who believe in providing for their fellow neighbors who are uninsured in our community.
